Subject: OnSocketError - Timeout
Hi

I am using the MiniClient VB 2005 sample client.
At home it works great connecting to Google Talk.

At work it gives a Timeout error.

When running the Google Talk Chat Client from Google I notice that it takes a fair amount of time to connect. The MiniClient does not seem to wait long enough.

I would like to see if I can extend the Timeout value so the client has more time to try and Connect to Google Talk.

Is there a way to do this?

Subject: Problem found
I tried another Jabber client (Pandion) and it does exactly the same thing (Timeout).
Obviously the Network I am on here at work is blocking something or other.

Not sure how Google Talk gets around that issue. Would love to find out.

You can try a network to see what times out.

Before agsXMPP or most of the existing clients connect to a XMPP server they query the srv-records to find the correct server host.
Is it possible that this dns lookups don't work in your network?
Did you try to disable this automatic discovery in existing clients (eg. PSI)?

If you are not familiar with SRV records this page help:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRV_record

Srv records in XMPP do a similiar job as MX records in email servers.
