sending bold, italics , colored text

Subject: sending bold, italics , colored text
It is possible to send the text as bold, Italic and with color text in the chatting. If yes, then what are the things i do achecive for this. In the chat windows there are 2 richtext box control, one for sending message and other for receiving the message.
    In sending message richtextbox i apply the styles like bold , italic extra that the user need...how can i send it and apply the text properties while receiving the text..

Usually formatted text is sent as XHTML in XMPP.
