Subject: Group Vs MUC Room
Hi Alex,

My application have functionality to send message to group of users and receive message through xmpp. Nothing else. Currently I am using MUC to broadcasting message. To receive message in room, every participant need to join that room. Instead of that can I use group in openfire and broadcast message to group instead of room. In this case, recipient does not need to join room.

Is there any performance impact, if I use group instead of MUC room?

Can I create large volume of group in openfire serve?

Thanks
Sanjeev

you can use XEP-0033: Extended Stanza Addressing instead of Muc for example.
There is no performance impact on your server.

Thanks for your reply.

Actually I want to create User's Group using Rest API in Openfire and send XMPP message to group. Is it same that you are pointing "XEP-0033: Extended Stanza Addressing"?

Thanks,
Sanjeev

no, XEP-0033 is XMPP and has nothing to do with REST.
