Is it possible to have anonymous SASL login in MatriX?

yes, MatriX does anonymous logins.

Is the way to do so the same as for agsXMPP? i.e. do we handle it on the onlogin method.

All you have to do is:
  1. xmppClient.AnonymousLogin = true;
